Root & Rise Health Coalition was created from a simple truth: health and justice are inseparable. Today, we are a Nurse Executive-led B‑Corporation partnering with Trauma Transformed, a nonprofit leader in healing-centered systems, to seed an Accountable Community for Health (ACH) in East Oakland. Our work isn’t about quick fixes — it’s about building an ecosystem of healing and accountability that connects hospitals, clinics, faith leaders, legal aid groups, community kitchens, food co-ops, and other grassroots organizations around one table.
At the heart of this work is Systemic Insights — a cross-sector learning model that helps any organization or agency examine critical incidents, missed opportunities, or harmful patterns and turn them into fuel for transformation. This framework isn’t about blame — it’s about creating a governance culture where learning and repair are built into daily practice.
We weave the science of psychoneuroimmunology (how stress and safety literally shape health) into operations, policies, and culture, so decision-makers — from hospital executives to neighborhood leaders — can make choices that support healing at both the individual and system level.
Our power lies in the belief that when people heal, they can lead — and when communities lead, systems can change. Root & Rise holds a vision of healthy people in healthy communities advocating for themselves and each other, reshaping policies, and creating the future we all deserve — because the future of care is collective, and it starts now.
When people heal, they think differently.
A healed nervous system is more able to engage civically, advocate, and lead.
When communities heal, they organize differently.
Healing circles and CHW networks aren’t just services; they are political infrastructure.
When systems heal, they govern differently.
Organizations that become trauma-informed stop replicating harm and start co-creating trust.
Our mission is to build the infrastructure, training, and partnerships needed for healthy people in healthy communities to become advocates, policy shapers, and leaders while advancing health equity and systems transformation at a time when it is needed most.

Founder
With nearly three decades in nursing and healthcare leadership, I’ve witnessed both the harm and the healing that systems can create. That experience fuels my commitment to quality, safety, equity, and transformational change and it’s why I founded Root & Rise Health Coalition.
My mission is simple but ambitious: to transform systems by embedding trauma-informed practices and psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) awareness into every layer of care and leadership. That means redesigning structures, coaching leaders and teams, and building culturally responsive, healing-centered operations that move beyond policy on paper and become living culture.
I’ve learned that healing happens when leaders, teams, and communities feel psychologically safe, culturally seen, and deeply supported in their mission. That’s when outcomes change. That’s when equity becomes real.
At Root & Rise, we’re not just educating systems, we’re building them. From fundraising to governance, from executive coaching to frontline training, we help organizations and communities co-create systems that last; because change that isn’t sustainable isn’t justice.
Our coalition exists to reimagine leadership at every level: where care is culturally responsive, leadership is relational and grounded, and well-being isn’t an afterthought; it’s the strategy. Together, we’re creating sustainable change: change that recruits and retains diverse talent, empowers community members to step into leadership, and ensures every system reflects the voices it serves.
Root & Rise is here to build the future of community health, equity, and care from the root up, so we all rise.
Now and Next:
Root & Rise Health Coalition is a Nurse Executive-led B‑Corp partnering with Trauma Transformed to launch an Accountable Community for Health (ACH).
Our nonprofit arm is in development, and we’re already building programs, partnerships, and the infrastructure for collective healing.
This site reflects our active build-out phase. Root & Rise is committed to transparent growth and welcomes partners in shaping this vision.
Root & Rise is currently a California B‑Corporation with Trauma Transformed serving as fiscal partner for nonprofit grants. Plans for an independent 501(c)(3) arm are underway for 2025–26.
The 510 Health Equity Coalition is Root & Rise’s Accountable Community for Health (ACH) hub and the partnership branch of our work. This branch will convene a multi‑stakeholder table beginning with our non-profit partner, Trauma Transformed, and expanding to include health systems, clinics, public health agencies, legal aid groups, faith leaders, community kitchens, food co‑ops, and grassroots organizations.
Its purpose is to drive cross‑sector engagement and build shared infrastructure for care, data, and decision‑making ensuring that the community itself helps set priorities, define measures of success, and shape the policies that impact their health.
The Leadership Collective is where innovation meets practice. It houses Systemic Insights™, a cross-sector governance and learning framework that helps organizations transform harmful patterns into healing-centered accountability.
The Root and Rise Academy branch trains Nurses, Leaders, Community Health Workers, peer coaches, and advocates in trauma-informed care, psychoneuroimmunology awareness, and civic leadership — empowering them to become catalysts for system change across health, education, justice, and community sectors.
The Health Foundation sustains and amplifies the work of Root & Rise by aligning resources with community needs. This branch doesn’t just write grants; it educates funders, showing how trauma-informed care, psychoneuroimmunology, and prevention-based models are essential to equity and long-term impact. Through fundraising, grant writing, and funder alignment strategy, the Foundation builds partnerships with philanthropy, systems of care, and government agencies to shift funding priorities toward healing, leadership development, and systems transformation. important details like price, value, length of service, and why it’s unique.
